Dam Steak House - Amsterdam

Dam Steakhouse
Damstraat 38
1012 JM Amsterdam

The third night of our hedonistic journey saw us at the Dam Steakhouse. As previously chronicled, Amsterdam centre is filled with steakhouses offering choices of extra large, extra fancy or extra cheap.

We went for the large. A decided on the half kilo of prime T-bone, with the enormous cut of fillet snuggled lovingly against the strip of porterhouse/sirloin, made even more succulent by being grilled on the bone.

I opted for the rack of bbq pork ribs, never a bad idea under any circumstances. Unless you're dining with the Queen.

Apologies for the atrocious photography; we had a long day trekking around the city, and were ready to drop at this stage. A was worried that we'd get lost again, as we had the previous night on our way home. Being so tired as she was, she had three goals for the rest of the evening: find a restaurant, eat, and find home safely.

Her steak was lovely, although the cross cut size (to make the steak look even more enormous) meant a thinner piece than I would have liked. It was cooked competently rare (more blue than rare), with good flavour.

The damage: Two mains with shared fries came to €40. Not bad for Amsterdam, especially when it involves a big hunk of juicy cow.
